On the nose and the palate, there's a real crispness! Oodles of small black fruits complement a magnificent aromatic palate that's full of spice and vanilla notes. But the finish is no less remarkable, with jammy, stewed fruit flavours coming to the fore just for our pleasure! Here's a Morgon that's got a great future ahead of it! Make no mistake, for those lacking patience it's a huge treat now.

Domaine Jean Foillard is a family estate in the Morgon appellation, in Beaujolais. Jean Foillard took over the domaine from his father in the 1980s, adding further parcels of land to the estate holdings over the following decades. The organically farmed estate spreads over 14 hectares, a high proportion of which is on the famed granite-and-schist hillside of Côte de Py. Most plantings are more than 40 years-old, with some as old as 100 years-old.

The grapes are generally harvested late and clusters are kept at low temperature for several weeks before traditional semi-carbonic fermentation, with indigenous yeasts, minimal or no sulfur additions, and no chaptalization or filtration. Wines are aged in used barrels sourced from estates in Burgundy.

The cuvée Eponym comes from the Les Charmes climate, in an area of the Morgon appellation facing south and southeast on granite soils between 300 and 450m above sea level.
