Founded only in 2014, Garmón's rise to fame in the Ribera del Duero has been astonishingly quick but when one consider it is the project of Mariano García, former winemaker at Vega Sicilia for 30 years, then it should be no surprise. Mariano put the Ribera del Duero on the global fine wine map in his time at Vega Sicilia and is turning heads once again at Garmón.

Joined by his sons Alberto and Eduardo, who has worked at Cos d’Estournel in Bordeaux, Domaine Hubert Lignier in Burgundy and Ridge in California, this formidable team were selected by Tim Atkin MW for his Decanter report "Ribera del Duero: eight producers to watch" as one of the top estates in the region.

Coming from up to 100 year old vines nearly exclusively between 800-1,000 metres above sea level, Field praises this "unique, pure and powerful" Ribera as an "eloquent statement from a winemaker who rejoices in old high-altitude vines". Although the estate is not certified, they farm biodynamically so the amazing terroir of their vineyards can really shine through in this 100% Tempranillo. "Chalky, balanced and effortlessly refined" (TA), the subtle hint of French oak is craftily hidden and the "thrilling freshness" (TA) adds a "persuasive lift" (DC) on the finish.
